As a result of targeted compounding with selected raw materials, they achieve a top performance in numerous applications in the fields of mobility, mechanical engineering, vibration insulation, medical engineering, as well as many other areas of daily life.

Customized, transparent material development for elastomers

The Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF offers customized, transparent material development for elastomer compounds. We are particularly concerned in this context with the development of sustainable elastomer compounds (green compounds). By using bio-based high-performance elastomers and bio-based customized additives, we offer our customers sustainable solutions so that they can remain competitive in the future. We use our physical methods to characterize the mechanical-thermal behavior of our customers’ elastomer materials and products. This means, for example, the mechanical behavior in the linear and nonlinear range, the relaxation behavior, the media and temperature resistance, as well as the prediction of aging. These characterizations enable us to provide significant support to our customers in the development of durable, reliable product solutions.
