The Division Research & Development
The Division Research and Development forms the scientific and technological backbone of the institute.
This is where the scientific staff of Fraunhofer LBF is based. The focus is on the targeted development of key scientific competencies in line with the institute's strategic goals. The main focus is on initiating, coordinating, and implementing publicly funded collaborative research projects in which the institute's key technological and methodological-scientific competencies are systematically deepened, expanded, and strategically developed.
In addition to new cross-divisional innovation projects acquired through the Division Innovation, Transfer and Cooperaton, bilateral industrial Research and Development projects, pre-competitive, publicly funded research projects, and Fraunhofer internal program research projects are also acquired and processed. Cooperation with industrial partners and research institutions is particularly relevant in these projects. Project planning and implementation serve to align and further develop competencies and thus prepare new Research and Development offerings.
The division is structured into six departments that operate along the entire value chain, from materials to components to systems.
